Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) would like to inform on the latest update of the asset upgrading, maintenance and replacement works in Sungai Langat Water Treatment Plant as well as the water supply disruption due to the temporary shutdown at the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2), Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) and Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) following an odour pollution incident at Sungai Selangor.

Sungai Langat Water Treatment Plant

The asset upgrading, maintenance and replacement works in Sungai Langat Water Treatment Plant (Sg Langat WTP) are still being implemented following a slight delay on site. The works are expected to be completed at 9:00 pm, 10 October 2023 (Tuesday).

However, the delay in work implementation will not affect the full water supply recovery to the affected consumers in the Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Langat regions. Water supply will be distributed in stages to the consumers once the water supply distribution system has been stabilised. The duration of the water supply recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the location and distance of consumers’ premises. Water supply is still expected to fully recover at 12.00 pm, 12 October 2023 (Thursday).

Regarding the latest status of water supply disruption due to the temporary shutdown at the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 (SSP1), Sungai Selangor Phase 2 (SSP2), Sungai Selangor Phase 3 (SSP3) and Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) following an odour pollution incident at Sungai Selangor, operations of all four WTP have fully commenced and clean and safe treated water supply has been distributed in stages to consumers.

As of 7:00 pm, the recovery status of the water supply in the affected areas has reached 24.5%. Water supply is still expected to fully recover at 12.00 am, 12 October 2023 (Thursday). Please refer to Appendix A for the list of areas that has not yet recovered.

Air Selangor would like to advise consumers who have and will receive their water supply to let the tap flow until it is clear before using.
