Air Selangor Shares Joy with Senior Citizens and Underprivileged Children in Conjunction with Chinese New Year

Published on 9 February 2024

Kuala Lumpur – In conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration this Saturday, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Sesama Mara initiative celebrated senior citizens and children who are under the care of three (3) welfare homes.

Through this initiative, Air Selangor extended donations of essential necessities such as food, daily clothes and household items and plumbing assistance to three (3) charity homes in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, namely Rumah Orang Tua Seri Kembangan, Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Kaizen Selangor dan Kuala Lumpur dan Persatuan Rumah Caring Kajang Selangor.

Aside from providing assistance and visiting all the charity homes involved, a team of Hydro Heroes’ volunteers consisting of 23 Air Selangor employees also took part in the CSR programme by decorating the premises of these charity homes with lantern decorations and others. Additionally, the volunteers also entertained the residents with ‘yee sang’ tossing and giving out ‘angpow’ packets to enliven their Chinese New Year celebration.

It is hoped that the donations will bring joy to all the residents of these welfare homes and make their Chinese New Year celebrations livelier this time around.

Under Sesama Mara programme, Air Selangor has distributed a total of 4,975 Box of Hope, consisting of essentials food items to B40 families in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur since this initiative was introduced on 30 June 2020.

Air Selangor hopes the assistance that has been distributed will be able to bring joy while also strengthen the relationships among various segments of society, such as the local community, residents’ associations, local authorities and non-governmental organisations.

The Box of Hope contributions in the form of physical purchases can be made at five (5) Box of Hope locations within Village Grocer outlets. These locations are Tamarind Square Cyberjaya, MyTOWN Shopping Centre Cheras, 1 Mont Kiara, Central i-City Shah Alam and Melawati Mall Ampang. In addition, Air Selangor has also introduced the digital version of the Box of Hope initiative, allowing the public to make digital contributions through the website www.airselangor.com/boxofhope/.

The Sesama Mara programme is a grassroots initiative aimed at assisting the surrounding community while strengthening Air Selangor’s relationships with various segments of society, such as the local community, residents’ associations, local authorities, and non-governmental organisations.
