What is Smart Water Meter?
Smart Water Meter is a digital device that automatically records data on water consumption, and then electronically reports this data at regular intervals. The data can show the patterns of water consumption, which can promote a smarter way of managing water consumption for customers.
Smart Water Meter uses wireless technology where the readings on water consumption can be taken remotely, frequently and accurately 24/7. This smart water meter replaces the conventional method of manual bill reading and estimated bills to measure water consumption.
How does Smart Water Meter work?
Smart Water Meter uses ultrasonic sound wave technology to measure water flow. It then sends data to Air Selangor’s servers via Radio Frequency (RF) communication.
What are the benefits of Smart Water Meter?
- Customers can learn about their water consumption habits which can lead to prudent and responsible consumer behaviour.
- Replaces the conventional method of manual bill reading and estimated bills.
- Ability to detect pipe leaks at customers’ premises more efficiently and shorten the time to repair the leaks.
- Reduces environmental footprint by replacing physical bills with our e-Bil service that can be sent via WhatsApp or email.

Who is going to experience the usage of the Smart Water Meter?
Our 50,000 customers in selected areas within Klang/Shah Alam and Petaling regions will be the first to be introduced to Smart Water Meter, followed by other regions in stages.
