AIR SELANGOR SHARES JOY OF CHINESE NEW YEAR CELEBRATION WITH SENIOR CITIZENS AND UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN

Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) shares the joy of the Chinese New Year celebration through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme Sesama Mara by celebrating the underprivileged community consisting of 100 senior citizens and children under the care of welfare homes. Air Selangor extended the donations to the representatives from Pusat Jagaan Rumah Love and Care in Kajang; Rainbow Home in Taman Fern Grove, Cheras; and Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim Berkat Kasih in Taman Klang Jaya, Klang today.

Pusat Jagaan Warga Emas Rumah Love and Care received donations consisting of food and household items such as home furniture and gardening tools. To ensure the comfort of 30 senior citizens living in the welfare home, Air Selangor also inspected the condition of the house’s internal water pipes and carried out pest control service.

For the 70 underprivileged children under the care of Rainbow Home in Taman Fern Grove and Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim Berkat Kasih, they received donations of food items, school supplies and new home furniture such as a sofa and cupboard; which definitely brought a sense of joy in them. Air Selangor also took the initiative to inspect the internal water pipes in these two welfare homes to ensure that the children could live comfortably during the implementation of the Movement Control Order.

In addition to donations in the form of goods and daily food essentials, all senior citizens and underprivileged children were very happy to receive ‘angpow’ packages in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration this Friday. The Chinese New Year celebration this year is at the back of the COVID-19 pandemic with limited social movement as well as no visiting allowed from the surrounding community like the previous years.
Air Selangor hopes that the donation extended will help ease the burden faced by these shelter homes in taking care of the less fortunate, especially in celebrating Chinese New Year in a difficult situation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Air Selangor’s Sesama Mara programme is a grassroots initiative that aims to help the surrounding community as well as strengthen Air Selangor’s relationship with stakeholders from various walks of life such as the local community, resident associations, local authorities and NGOs.
