Latest Update On The Water Supply Recovery For Three Air Selangor Regions Following Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (Langat 2 WTP) Temporary Shutdown

Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) would like to update on the water supply recovery status in 397 areas in three (3) Air Selangor regions, namely Petaling (3 areas), Kuala Lumpur (172 areas) and Hulu Langat (222 areas) following the temporary shutdown of the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (Langat 2 WTP) as a result of a pollution incident due to oil spillage at Sungai Semantan, Karak, Pahang caused by an accident on the KM75.9 Karak-Bentong Highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

As of 12:00 pm, the water supply recovery in the affected areas has reached 99.5%. The percentage of water supply recovery status in the affected regions is as follows:

The duration of the water supply recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the location and distance of consumers’ premises. Water supply in all 397 affected areas in the three Air Selangor regions is expected to fully recover at 8:00 pm, 12 August 2022. Consumers can also obtain the list of affected areas from https://hentitugas.airselangor.com/ as well as the Air Selangor application.

Alternative assistance through water tankers will continue to be mobilised to consumers, with priority given to critical premises. Air Selangor is making all efforts to minimise the impact of disruption on the affected consumers.

Air Selangor would like to advise consumers who have and will be receiving water supply to let water from the tap to flow until it is clear before daily use. Air Selangor also hopes that consumers who have received the water supply will use water prudently to ensure that the water supply recovery process in the affected areas runs smoothly as scheduled.
