Kuala Lumpur – Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) would like to inform that the scheduled maintenance works for several of Air Selangor’s key assets will be implemented in 2021 to ensure continuous water supply services can be provided to consumers in the future.
Air Selangor has obtained approval from Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) to carry out maintenance work on major assets on a scheduled basis as follows:
- The transfer and connection works for new pipes near the Carlsberg factory at Persiaran Selangor Seksyen 15, Shah Alam which will cause a scheduled water supply disruption for 48 hours.
The pipe transfer and connection works will be implemented on 30 March 2021, from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. These works were scheduled for 12 January 2021 but was postponed following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO). The pipe transfer and connection works will cause water supply disruptions in 5 areas in the Petaling Region, 14 areas in the Klang Region, and 12 areas in the Shah Alam Region from 9:00 a.m., 30 March 2021. The water supply is expected to fully recover at 9:00 a.m., 1 April 2021. The list of areas that will experience scheduled water supply disruptions is as in Appendix A.
- The valve replacement works in the raw water pipeline from the Klang Gates Dam which will cause a temporary shut down at the Bukit Nanas and Wangsa Maju Water Treatment Plants, and resulting in a scheduled water supply disruption for 68 hours.
The scheduled valve replacement will be implemented on 6 April 2021, from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. Following the shut down, 12 areas in the Gombak Region and 46 areas in the Kuala Lumpur Region will experience a scheduled water supply disruption from 9.00 a.m., 6 April 2021. Water supply is expected to fully recover on 9 April 2021, 5.00 a.m. The list of areas that will experience scheduled water supply disruptions is as in Appendix B.
The duration of the water supply disruption and recovery in the affected areas will vary depending on the quantity of water supply, the distance of the consumers’ premises, and the water pressure at the distribution system.
Air Selangor would like to advise the affected consumers to store adequate water supply and use water prudently during the scheduled water supply disruption period.
Additionally, Air Selangor is also planning to carry out maintenance work on major assets at several water treatment plants, namely Cheras Batu 11 Water Treatment Plant on 15 June 2021, Sungai Langat Water Treatment Plant on 6 July 2021, and Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant on 5 October 2021. However, the implementation of these scheduled works is subject to the approval from SPAN. Air Selangor will be providing a detailed update on the list of affected areas and the water supply recovery schedule after approval from SPAN has been obtained.
Air Selangor would also like to clarify that the implementation of the main assets’ maintenance works that will be implemented has taken into account various factors before being implemented, including:
- Avoiding the implementation of maintenance works within a period of 7 days before and 7 days after major festivals gazetted by the Federal and State Governments;
- Avoiding dates of important events at the International, National, or State levels such as a sporting events, conferences, or meetings;
- Avoiding dates during major government school examinations;
Air Selangor would like to clarify that the implementation of these scheduled works is carried out to enable the main assets and water supply distribution system is at a good level. The improvement of the pipeline infrastructure is also part of Air Selangor’s efforts in improving the best service quality for the convenience of consumers in the future.
