Kuala Lumpur – In conjunction with its 5th anniversary celebration, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) has distributed essential food supplies to 300 residents of DUN Sungai Tua, Batu Caves, Selangor, through the Box of Hope Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, which took place at the Batu Caves Community Hall, Selangor, recently.
The contribution of the Box of Hope, which consisted of essential food items such as rice, oil, sugar, dry goods, flour, and other basic necessities, was officiated by the Menteri Besar of Selangor, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, accompanied by Air Selangor’s Chief Executive Officer, Adam Saffian Ghazali.
The Menteri Besar of Selangor, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, in his speech, said, “Air Selangor’s proactive steps through the Sesama Mara CSR initiative, which includes various programmes such as today’s Box of Hope contribution to the B40 community, not only helps ease the burden of the people but also serves as a clear example of how the state government, together with state-owned companies, remain committed to prioritising the well-being of the people. I hope this programme will continue to grow and benefit even more people in the future,” he added.
Air Selangor’s Chief Executive Officer, Adam Saffian Ghazali, also shared, “Since the Box of Hope programme was introduced in June 2020, a total of 6,035 Box of Hope packages have been distributed to the B40 community. This contribution is hoped to have a positive impact on the recipients by alleviating their daily expenses.”
The Box of Hope programme is part of Air Selangor’s CSR initiative, Sesama Mara, which aims to assist surrounding communities while strengthen the relationships among various segments of society, such as local community, residents’ associations, local authorities, and non-governmental organisations.
“This programme demonstrates that Air Selangor is not only committed to providing water services but also to helping and contributing to the community through our Sesama Mara CSR initiative,” added Adam Saffian.
The event was also enlivened by the presence of Selangor Football Club (SFC), who are also strategic partners of Air Selangor, in organising a football clinic for 50 children aged 7 to 12, giving them early exposure to the sport.
The public also had the opportunity to check their eligibility and apply for the Skim Air Darul Ehsan (SADE), a programme that realigns free water provision for targeted groups in Selangor, at the exhibition booth set up during the event.
The Box of Hope contributions in the form of physical purchases can be made at five (5) Box of Hope locations within Village Grocer outlets. These locations are Tamarind Square Cyberjaya, MyTOWN Shopping Centre Cheras, 1 Mont Kiara, Central i-City Shah Alam and Melawati Mall Ampang. In addition, Air Selangor has also introduced the digital version of the Box of Hope initiative, allowing the public to make digital contributions through the website www.airselangor.com/boxofhope/.
